Today, Palmpring had the honor of attending the 2017 Pasadena Showcase House of Design, sponsored by Luxe Interiors & Design Magazine .

The Pasadena Showcase

Every year, Interior Designers from all across California come together in Pasadena to transform the interior of a house and showcase their talents . Each designer is assigned one or more rooms to work with and renovate in their chosen style. Styles this year ranged from Rock Glam, to ocean themed, to more classical aesthetics . Some designers were given bedrooms, others bathrooms, or hallways, or staircases. The breadth in style and space provided a great challenge to the designers, and an excellent variety to enjoy for those viewing the house .

Additionally, several sponsors were in attendance who gave presentations on current design trends . The presentation on paint colors showed a phasing out of gray and a general warming of tones, highlighting their color of the year “Honey Glow”. Tile, a part of the industry with greater product longevity and less change over time, emphasized the growth in popularity of the color blue, which works so well with the classical white of many granite countertops .

This year, for the first time, bloggers and other media representatives were invited to a breakfast and tour of the showcase to meet the designers and view their work . We were the first to view the finished showcase house, and it was awe-inspiring.

Our Contribution

Designers Trevor and Justina Freel on a Palmpring Kochi mattress!

Palmpring wasn’t simply an attendee at this year’s event . We were proud to work with designers Justina and Trevor Freel, who featured our Kochi mattress in their “Bee’s Bliss Gardener’s Retreat”. The small brick cottage they were given was transformed into a bee themed living space complete with tea kitchen and swinging daybed . Gorgeous embossed paper cutouts created a pleasant garden scene over a glass display on one of the walls. The doors and windows were adorned with the hexagonal pattern of honeycombs . Even the doorknobs were oversized bee sculptures, clinging to chunks of their hive.

The Palmpring mattress Trevor and Justina used for their swinging daybed was one of our Kochi models. The Kochi mattress is 5 inches thick, made from one layer of our recycled coconut fiber and one layer of certified organic latex, wrapped in a certified organic cotton and wool cover. Kochi is hypo-allergenic, germ resistant, and provides the perfect amount of support and comfort for growing children. It’s a popular choice for cribs and kids beds, but it’s also available in our full range of sizes from Twin to King.

If you’re in the Pasadena area and get the chance, check out the Pasadena Showcase House of Design. And while you’re there, stop by Palmpring headquarters on Green Street and order a Kochi mattress of your own!
